Where is Picos de Europa?
The Picos de Europa is a mountain range in northern Spain and home to the country’s oldest national park, shared by the regions of Asturias, Cantabria and Castilla y León.
When to go?
The best time to go to Picos de Europa is late spring, summer and early autumn. During these months, temperatures are mild, days are often sunny, and snow has usually melted from the mountains. Outside this period, snow and ice can remain at higher altitudes, which may affect both hiking conditions and driving.
Full rental houses do not usually offer private parking. However, some villages have open public parking areas, or you can typically find a parking space on the street close to the house.
Navigation app and tracks
Included in your booking is access to the tour on our navigation app. You can also download the tracks and follow the routes on your own device, but we recommend checking the app for the day-to-day itinerary

The paths are generally well‑maintained, but can be stony or muddy after rain. Dress in light, breathable layers and always carry a waterproof jacket, as mountain weather can change quickly. A small daypack with water, snacks, sun‑screen and a cap or sun hat is essential, especially for children.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS
There are no reviews for this trip yet.
Yes. The Picos de Europa is an excellent destination for families, offering a great mix of nature, outdoor activities and local culture. Families can enjoy easy scenic walks, animal encounters, traditional villages and hands‑on experiences such as cheesemaking, as well as optional adventure activities like canoeing or canyoning suited to older children. Please note that the area is a protected national park, and some family‑friendly activities take place just outside the park boundaries.
The weather in the Picos de Europa can be unpredictable, with cool temperatures and sudden changes — even in summer. In the higher areas, you might get more sun, as you're often above the clouds (around 1000m). Spring to early autumn is also a great time to visit, but always come prepared for rain. Check out more about the climate here and what to pack here.
The holiday homes are equipped with kitchen facilities and basic household supplies, such as toilet paper, usually provided for at least the first two nights. We recommend checking the house upon arrival before doing your food shopping. Some hamlets have a bar‑tienda (a small bar that also sells basic groceries), and there are two larger supermarkets in Arenas de Cabrales for more extensive supplies.
