Day 2: Loop from Corçà (17 - 31 km)
Day 3: From Corça to Peratallada (24 km)
Day 4: Out to the Costa Brava (40 km)
Day 5: The Ter River delta (40,5 km)
Day 6: From Peratallada to Sant Pere Pescador (38 km)
Day 7: To Figueres and Aiguamolls Natural Park (37 - 53 km)
Day 8: End of arrangement

Day 1:    Arrival in Corça

Travel to Catalonia and take the train into the Ampurdan. A taxi transfer is included from Flaça station to your first hotel in Corça.

Day 2:    Loop from Corçà (17 - 31 km)

Dive into the ambience of the Baix Empordà, or Lower Ampurdan, cycling picturesque scenes of tiny plots, vegetable gardens and Mediterranean woodlands. Stretch your legs on a stroll through medieval villages like Monells and Madremanya. Add an intriguing optional visit to Pubol and the castle-museum, which the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí dedicated to his wife Gala.

Challenge: 17-31 km, 200/300 m ascent/descent.

Day 3:    From Corça to Peratallada (24 km)

Set off on a short climb through wooded terrain then zoom along on the flat! You’ll be tempted to believe you’re in Tuscany, what with the curious hilltop hamlets and rows of cypresses. These elegant trees were introduced as windbreaks by the Iberians who farmed this vast fertile region long ago. This evening, meet a marvellous dilemma in Peratallada as you select a restaurant for dinner.

Challenge: 24 km, 150 m ascent, 175 m descent.

Day 4:    Out to the Costa Brava (40 km)

Quiet country lanes meander to the charming chief town of Pals then wind along the coast to Palafrugell, Llafranca and the perfect-perfect fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. Take a lunch break at an excellent beach restaurant, roam the botanical garden in Cap Roig or venture further south into the Valley of Aubi. All told, it’s a day to fill the senses!

Challenge: 40 km, 150 m ascent/descent.

Day 5:    The Ter River delta (40,5 km)

Ride placidly along between sandy Costa Brava coves and delta rice fields, passing the occasional windmill along the way! Or, if you prefer to take the day off from cycling, Peratallada is a perfect spot to rest and relax.

Challenge: 40,5 km, 150 m ascent/descent.

Day 6:    From Peratallada to Sant Pere Pescador (38 km)

Glide northward into the region of Alt Empordà, the Upper Ampurdan, through open rural landscapes, mixed forests and immense orchards. Stop to gawk at Greek and Roman ruins at the Empuries archaeological site then park your bike for a bit and explore a labyrinth of medieval lanes in Torroella de Montgrí.

Challenge: 38 km, 200 m ascent, 220 m descent.

Day 7:    To Figueres and Aiguamolls Natural Park (37 - 53 km)

Now it’s on to Figueres, a village whose very name is synonymous with that of Salvador Dalí. Study the work of this peculiar artistic genius at his own museum, wander down the Rambla with locals and marvel at the Augustine monastery just outside town. Let the Muga River lead the way to medieval Castello d'Empuries and pause to reflect in the refreshing green wetlands of Aiguamolls de l'Emporda Natural Park.

Challenge: 37 - 53 km, 125/225 m ascent/descent.

Day 8:    End of arrangement

Your cycling trip comes to an end today and a taxi transfer is included to the train station in Figueres. Optional private airport transfers can be booked on request.
