Day 2:    Circular walk from Valldemossa

Your first walk starts directly from your hotel. Leaving the village of Valldemossa, you reach an area with restricted access where a limited number of permits are granted each day to walk the Archduke’s Trail (Camí de s’Arxiduc). This permit is arranged for you by S-Cape Travel. Should there be no permits available, you will follow an alternative route nearby. Both options include sweeping views and an optional ascent to a peak

Villages along the way: Valldemossa

Day 3:    From Deia to Puerto Soller

After a short transfer, you walk from the artists' colony of Deia to the coastal town of Puerto Soller. Your route follows the coastline, through quiet Mediterranean woods (pines, oaks and madrone trees) and across a private estate where the owners serve delicious fresh orange juice.

Challenge: 14km. 280m ascent and 440m descent. 5,5 hours.

Villages along the way: Deia, Puerto de Soller

After a taxi transfer to Cala Tuent,a summer village with a lovely beach, you begin a 6-hour walk. Your first follow the coastline to Port Soller and then by way of the farm at Balitx d'Avall, situated among orange groves and olive orchards in one of the most remote valleys of Mallorca.

Challenge: 15 km. 6 hours. 650m ascent and 610m descent.

At the top, you have lovely views from 'Torre Picada', along the rocky coastline to the tiny island of S'Illeta just offshore. From the peak, you do a steep descent along a ravine to reach 'Sa Punta Llarga', a promontory which affords a lovely vista point back from sea level.

practical info

You can start on any day of the week, subject to availability, between May 1st and October 31st

The nearest airport is Palma de Mallorca (PMI).

Arrival in Valdemossa

  • If you are arriving at Palma de Mallorca airport (PMI), there is a shuttle bus which runs from the airport to the bus / train station in La Palma every 15min. Check timetables here. From Palma city centre there are regular buses (Line 210) to Valldemossa (travel time: 30 minutes). Check timetables here.
  • A direct taxi journey from the airport to Valldemossa can be arranges in advance

Departure from Port Soller

  • There is a bus from Port Sóller to Palma de Mallorca (Line 211). Departures are every 1,5 hours (travel time aprox. 40 minutes). Check rates and schedules at www.tib.org.  Once in Palma, take a shuttel bus to the airport.
  • Direct taxi transfers from the last accommodation to the airport or harbour can be arranged

If you are travelling to and from Barcelona by car, it is best to take the ferry to Palma de Mallorca. However, it is not at all convenient to take your car over to the island, as the transport fee is quite high. In addition, at the end of the trip it is faster and easier to get back to the ferry terminal by public transport or taxi than by car
