Day 1:    Arrival in La Morena

Taxi transfer from Reus to your friendly accommodation in La Morera de Montsant.

Challenge: Travel to Montsant

Day 2:    Circular walk from La Morera (15 km)

Walk via the hamlet of Poboleda, among the vineyards which surround these wine-producing villages, to visit the centuries-old remains of Cartoixa d'Escaladei Monastery.

Challenge: 6 hrs, 15 km, 650 m ascent/descent.

Day 3:    From La Morera To Ulldemolins (17 km)

A steep ascent to the top of the Serra Major range, along cliffs with marvellous views. Descent on the far side of the massif, through Pi de la Carabasseta and then on to Ulldemolins.

Challenge: 6,5 hrs, 17 km, 510 m ascent, 670 m descent.

Day 4:    From Ulldemolins to Prades (16 km)

One of the most beautiful walks in Mediterranean Europe following an impressive gorge, with the descent down into a side ravine. On the way to Prades, you pass a small church and monastery and then reach this lively historical town of red stone monuments.

Challenge: 5,5 hrs, 16 km, 430 m ascent/descent.

Day 5:    Circular walk from Prades (10 km)

Walk toward Capafonts on a steep ascent to lovely l'Abellera monastery chapel, perched high up on a cliff. Time on your return to explore the village of Prades.

Challenge: 4 hrs, 10 km, 450 m ascent/descent.

Day 6:    From Prades to Montblanc (24 km)

An outstanding nature walk through the Montes de Prades, with incredibly diverse vegetation, to the picturesque medieval town of Montblanc.

Challenge: 8 hrs, 24 km, 390 m ascent, 990 m descent.

Day 7:    To the Poblet Monastery (16 km)

A lovely day-walk through the Conca de Barberà wine region to reach the awe-inspiring Cistercian Monastery of Poblet. Vineyards, olive trees and almond orchards compliment this feast for the eyes.

Challenge: 4,5 hrs, 16 km, 140 m ascent, 270 m descent.

You can start on any day of the week, subject to availability, between April and October.

The nearest airports to the Sierra de Montsant are Reus airport (REU) and Barcelona (BCN).

Arrival in La Morena

  • From Reus airport there is a good bus connection to town centre bus station, where you will be picked up by a taxi
  • From Barcelona airport you should first go by train to Barcelona Sants Central Station, and from there take a train to Reus (see www.renfe.es). Once in Reus, you continue by taxi to Morera de Montsant.

Departure from Montblanc

At the end of your trip, you take a train from Montblanc to Barcelona (aprox. 2,20h travel) www.renfe.es
