Day 1:    Arrive in Istria

Arrive in Fazana and check-in at your accommodation. Take some time to relax and explore this nice village. 

In the late afternoon bike fitting with welcoming introduction of the programme at the accommodation. If you want to can book the optional guided city tour of Rovinj today for Day 4

Day 2:    Ride to Pula and/or day boat trip to the Brijuni National Park

You can start your day with a short easy warm up ride in Pula. Cycle around the warrens of marbled alleys and the beautifully preserved amphitheatre from 27 BC.
After the ride get on the boat to the Brijuni National Park, that long time ago used to be Tito’s private island archipelago. Explore the Roman villas and the Byzantine villages, admire the herds of deer, pine-fringed bays and the Tito’s personal zoo.

Challenge: 3/4 hours, 18/32 km, 100/285m ascent, 100/270m descent

Day 3:     Vodnjan Circular ride

Today you cycle inland to Vodnjan, the Istrian ancient capital where you will find a mix of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture. After lunch you pedal along the coast, passing remains of Roman baths on the shore until you reach the village of Fazana

Challenge: 2/4 hours, 19/38 km, 100/285m ascent, 100/270m descent

Day 4:    Ride to Rovinj via Bale. Optional guided city tour in Rovinj

After breakfast head north towards the charming sea town of Rovinj. A gentle ascent takes you to the small town of Bale, also known as the Roman stronghold of Castrum Vallis, built by the Romans to help defend the saltpans and the roads that connect to and from Pula and Porec.
If you have booked in advance (on Day 1), you can do the optional guided city tour of Rovinj.  

Challenge: 3/3.5 hours, 39 km, 250m ascent,260m descent

Day 5:     Day at leisure to spend in Rovinj or Northern circular

Today the choice is yours! Spend a day relaxing on one of the sunny bay of Rovinj or visiting its nice boutiques and galleries. If you like you can also go for a boat day trip to Venice.
Alternatively, you can opt for a short easy circular ride, passing ruined churches and olive groves. On the way back stop for a swim on one of the rocky coast. 

Challenge: 1.5 hours, 17 km, 200m ascent, 200m descent 

Day 6:    Ride from Rovinj to Porec

Start the day’s itinerary pedalling inland to the impressive wooded valley of the Lim Fjord.  Freewheel down to the bottom and ascend a 2 km hill to the panoramic viewpoint on the other side. After lunch, continue the ride towards Porec, an old nice town located in the small peninsula of San Nicholas. Visit its magnificent historical palaces, the “House of the two Saints” and the popular UNESCO Heritage Basilica of Euphrasian. 

Challenge: 4/4.5 hours, 45 km, 320m ascent, 320m descent 

Day 7:    Circular ride in Porec via Tar and via the Jama Baredine Caves

Cycle along the shore as you head towards the fertile plateau of Tar and pass by the Larun olive plantations, said to produce Europe’s best olive oil. Loop back inland to visit the giant limestone Cave of Jama Baredine. Return to Porec and enjoy your last Istrian evening enjoying a glass of home-made brandy in the terrace of the hotel overlooking the sea. 

Challenge: 2.5 hours, 32 km, 260m ascent, 260m descent 

Day 8:    Arrivederci Istria!

You can start on any day of the week, subject to availability, between April and October.

The best airports to fly into are Pula (PUY) in Istria and Trieste (TRS) in Italy, but you can also fly from either Treviso (TSF) or Venice (VCE).

Both Pula and Trieste are connected to Fazana and Poreč by bus.

If you are flying into Treviso (TSF) or Venice (VCE), you first need to get to Trieste by train.
