Day 2: Urriellu-Bulnes-Poncebos
Day 3: Departure

Day 1:    Arrival in Poncebos and ascent to the Picu Urriellu

At 9.30hrs you are expected at the hotel in Poncebos where you can leave your car and the bulk of your luggage for one night. Then a 4x4 taxi will take  to the start of the walk to Urriellu. Spectacular excursion to the well-known Picu Urriellu. Once there, we can explore the sorroundings of the Central Massif of Picos de Europa.

Challenge: 10km, 1025 ascent and 150m descent, approx. 4.5 hours

Day 2:    Urriellu-Bulnes-Poncebos

On your way back to Poncebos you traverse a steep footpath down Camburero Gorge to reach the remote village of Bulnes, a natural spot surrounded by mountains and which can only be reached by train (through a tunnel) or on foot. The Camburero Gorge is a technically difficult descent but some cables have been fixed on it as a support for walkers. Early in the season, this descent may be impracticable due to water level from snow run-off. The alternate route goes by the way of Pandebano, which means 3 extra km of walk.

Once in Bulnes, continue through the Teju Gorge into Poncebos, where you'll have a bed and  shower waiting for you.

Challenge: 8.5 km, 1650m descent, 4.5 hours
