Day 1:    Arrive in Monpazier

You will start in the Medieval Bastide town of Monpazier

Day 2:    Cycling roundtrip via Biron - 24/40 km | 15/25 mi

Today an almost flat ride to the Castle of Biron with starts with a short tough climb in the beginning. Mostly the route follows rural, paved backroads. In the village of La Capelle Biron you can choose to turn back to Monpazier or to extend your cycle trip with a visit to the donjon of Gavaudun. Through a wooded area you will cycle back to your hotel.

Day 3:    Cycling trip from Monpazier to St.Vivien - 26 km | 16 mi

Cycle to your next accommodation in St. Vivien, situated in the green region southwest of Monpazier. The trip follows through rolling farmers land with fields and grass-lands surrounded by wooded banks. Following quiet backroads, sometimes you will find some small climbs. In the end, you will be surprised by a fine dinner in Moulin de Labique, a cozy overnight address and good food.

Day 4:    Cycling roundtrip via Castillonnès - 28/36 km | 17,5/22,5 mi

During this stage, you will pass several medieval castles and authentic villages. Like Bournel, a rustic and idyllic situated hamlet with a nice chapel and Roman tower. Finally, you will reach Castillonnès with his snugly, small backstreets and nice shops.

Day 5:    Cycling roundtrip via Montflanquin - 25 km | 15,5 mi

A delightful cycling trip to the small bastide town of Montflanquin, situated on a hilltop and certificated as one of the 100 most beautiful villages of France. From here you have a wonderful view on the surrounding area. through authentic French countryside your return leads you back to your oasis of rest

Day 6:    Cycling trip from St.Vivien to Monpazier - 27 km | 17 mi

Another quiet and wonderful trip leads you to Villereal, an age-old bastide town, also choosen as one of the most beautiful villages of France. The route is almost totally flat with sometime a short climb. It ends in the you already well-known pearl of Monpazier.

Day 7:    (Optional) Cycling via Montferrand and/or Cadouin - 21/35 km | 13/21,5 mi

After breakfast, your trip ends. 

If you wish you can make a last cycle roundtrip. This trip crosses a varied landscape with rolling green meadows and densely forested slopes and characteristic villages. The longest variant leads you to the stretched out and scarcely populated forests of La Bessède. During this trip, you will pass the pretty village of Montferrand du Périgord and Cadouin during the longest variant.

Departure any day of the week from 1st March to 31st October.

The best airport of arrival is Bergerac airport, which is also served by several low cost companies. You can book a private transfer from Bergerac airport to Monpazier and back (on request). Also, possibility of arrival in Bordeaux or Toulouse airport.

Arrival/Departure  in/from Monpazier

You can get to Bergerac, Buisson-de-Cadouin or Belvès by train. For time tables and further information look at the website of the SNCF.

You can also book the following private transfers to be paid on the spot to driver.

  • Transfer from train station of Bergerac to Monpazier and back 
  • Transfer from train station of Buisson-de-Cadouin to Monpazier and back 
  • Transfer from train station of Belvès to Monpazier and back
